Boston College Move-Out Details, Help Needed
Boston College Move Out – May 13 – May 22
The biggest donation week of the year is coming up for Household Goods, and we could use your help!
Boston College’s graduation is Monday, May 21. On that day, and in the week leading up, thousands of BC students will be moving out of their dorms and leaving behind usable household goods, including lamps, microwaves, coffee makers, vacuums, sheets, towels, blankets, and more for Household Goods.
These items are critical to keeping Household Goods stocked with the essential items that families need to set up their homes for months to come. Help from volunteers during this time is crucial to making the collection a reality and a success.
Volunteers are needed to:
- Collect and load donations at BC from Sunday, May 13 through Tuesday, May 22 – but especially Monday, May 21, graduation day.
- Unload the trucks coming back from BC at the Household Goods facility, at 530 Main St. in Acton, from Monday, May 14 through Tuesday, May 22.
- Sort, clean and process donations Monday May 14 through May 25!
Household Goods is fortunate to be able to take advantage of this opportunity again this year. Last May, BC students generously donated more than 1,600 bags of sheets and towels, 600 lamps, and 770 small appliances to Household Goods.
Please consider volunteering. No experience is necessary. To sign up, call Brigid at 978-635-1710, ext. 6, or email volunteer@householdgoods.org.

- Drivers must be approved.
- Crew must be 18 to ride in Household Goods’ trucks (unless they are with their own parent).
- Extra Crew can drive their own vehicles or meet our trucks on BC campus.
- Please wear your orange Household Goods t-shirt!<
- Most items we collect at BC are small, (lamps, microwaves, linens etc..) there may be the occasional piece of furniture, or TV, but everything is coming out of dorms, so most items are light.
- We need people who can tally/inventory and sort the goods too, so you don’t need to be a “heavy lifter” to participate!
